US Immigration

2nd Step: Affidavit

Obtaining a Fiancee Visa is a two-step process.

The second step is the Affidavit. Once the petition is approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Regional Center in the U.S., the case is then forwarded to the appropriate U.S. consulate overseas. The U.S. consulate office location is, of course, dependent upon where your fiancee resides.

When the U.S. consulate has completed its work on the case file, your fiancee will be notified: (1) to have a medical exam performed; and (2) that an interview date has been scheduled for her. At the interview, your fiancee will submit a number of application forms and supporting documents.

If all the paperwork is in order and your fiancee is successful in her interview, your fiancee will receive the K-1 visa. Then, she is free to travel to the United States with the documents that are issued to her by the U.S. consulate.
